How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Juvéderm dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) formulas. HA occurs naturally in the body, but your natural levels of HA can become depleted by aging, genetics, or stress. HA is a natural hydrator that plumps and smooths skin, so a lack of natural HA can result in wrinkles and a loss of facial volume. Juvéderm restores HA and also works to increase collagen production to rejuvenate, refresh, or recontour.
Preparing for Your Appointment
Dermal filler injections are typically a quick treatment and minimal prep is required before your appointment. You can minimize your chances of swelling and bruising by avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen in the days leading up to your injections.
What to Expect After Juvéderm Treatment
You may experience some swelling, bruising, redness, or temporary numbness after dermal fillers, and your recovery will vary based on your unique experience and the area being treated.2 Patients typically get back to their regular day-to-day right after treatment.
Your Juvéderm Treatment
First we’ll cleanse the area to be treated. Juvéderm formulas contain an anesthetic ingredient to prevent discomfort; an additional numbing cream can also be applied to your skin depending on the type of injection and your level of sensitivity. Dermal filler injection treatments usually take between 10 and 30 minutes depending on the type of treatment.
