Lip Augmentation

Beautifully shaped full lips can make our faces look more balanced and youthful. Non-surgical lip augmentation is one of today’s most popular cosmetic procedures.  As we age, our lips naturally thin from loss of volume. Because of this thinning, vertical lines known as “smoker’s lines” or “lipstick bleed lines” often appear around the edges of the upper and lower lips.1 In addition, aging can cause the upper lip’s “cupid’s bow” to flatten, or the upper lip to lengthen. Some people are born with thin lips and they want to achieve a more defined lip contour or add lip volume to balance out the features of their face.

Non-Surgical Lip Injections in San Marcos, Menifee, and Temecula

At Before-N-After, we use the best dermal fillers on the market to enhance the appearance of our patient’s lips with our #1 goal being to give you the results that you want, whether you are going for a very natural or more dramatic look. During your lip augmentation consultation, we’ll discuss your options for lip injections and help you determine the Lip Enhancement treatment plan that delivers the natural, beautiful results you desire.

Dermal Fillers For Lip Augmentation

We’re happy to offer our patients  the Juvederm® line of dermal fillers, the most popular line of injectable dermal fillers for lip enhancement. Juvedérm® fillers are placed by an aesthetic provider at one of our convenient locations to give you a full pout that is soft and kissable.

Juvedérm

Juvederm is an injectable dermal filler with a hyaluronic acid (HA) base used to treat the face, specifically the lips, area around the mouth, and cheeks. Juvederm results last between six to 12  months.

Juvedérm Volbella XC

Juvedérm Ultra Plus XC and Volbella XC are our preferred injectable HA gels for Lip Enhancement and to correct marionette lines (perioral lines).

Types of Non-Surgical Lip Augmentation

Enhance Volume & Projection of Lips

Lip Injections are most often performed to increase the size or volume of the lips. Lip Injections with dermal fillers can also be placed strategically to improve or enhance the contour of the lips to give them a more defined shape.

Improve The Appearance of Marionette Lines

Marionette lines are the deep folds or wrinkles that extend from the corners of the mouth down towards the chin. Dermal fillers can fill these lines while also adding volume to the lips for a more youthful lip restoration. For patients with concerns about marionette lines, we may recommend DiamondGlow or microdermabrasion to optimize results.

Correct Smokers Lines & Lipstick Bleed Lines

Lip Injections are also used to correct “lipstick bleed lines” or “smoker’s lines,” the thin, vertical lines that form around your lips as you age. Lip Injections with dermal fillers can fill these lines while also plumping the lips themselves. We often recommend BOTOX® in addition to a dermal filler, as these toxins offer a temporary paralysis that gently weakens the overactive muscles around the mouth that can lead to pursing of the lips, resulting in these lines.

FAQs About Non-surgical Lip Augmentation

  • What Should I Expect After My Non-surgica Lip Augmentation?

Before-N-After is dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable procedure experience that will restore and/or enhance the appearance of your lips. After your lip augmentation with dermal filler, you may experience some mild tenderness, bruising, and swelling. This is normal and generally dissipates within 48 hours.2 Most patients feel comfortable resuming their normal activities immediately following their lip augmentation treatment, however, we do recommend that you do not exercise for at least 24 hours following your appointment.
  • What Are Dermal Fillers For Lip Augmentation Made Of?

The dermal fillers we use for lip augmentation are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally occurring substance produced in the skin.3 HA fillers work by retaining moisture in the skin, leading to an increase in the shape, structure, and volume of the lips. These dermal fillers also include a small amount of the numbing agent lidocaine to ensure maximum comfort during your procedure.
  • Is Non-surgical Lip Augmentation Safe?

Yes, dermal fillers are safe, and severe side effects are uncommon.4 In the hands of your aesthetic provider at Before-N-After, you can achieve beautiful, natural, and long-lasting results.
  • How Long Do Lip Injections Last?

Lip augmentation results with dermal fillers are not permanent, as the body naturally metabolizes the filler over time. Depending on the filler you choose, your results can last anywhere from six months to more than one year. Your Before-N-After provider will discuss your goals and help you decide which product is best to achieve the results you’re looking for. We recommend a follow-up appointment three to six months following your initial lip augmentation procedure to touch-up the lips and ensure the volume is stable.
  • How Often Will I Need To Get Lip Injections?

Lip augmentation can be done once with one syringe or multiple syringes or be done gradually over multiple sessions until you achieve the look you desire. Most patients will need a touch-up every six months to 12 months.
  • How Much Lip Filler Do I Need?

The amount of filler used for lip augmentation is ultimately up to you, depending on the look you want. When you discuss your cosmetic goals with your Lip Injection specialist at Before-N-After, we will create a custom treatment plan that is right for you and will determine how much filler is needed to achieve your goals.
  • Are Lip Injections Painful?

You may experience mild pain during your lip augmentation procedure, but we’ll do everything we can to maximize your comfort with a topical numbing cream before your injections. For reference, most patients find Lip Injections to be more tolerable than a waxing appointment.
  • Can I Get Lip Filler In One Lip?

You can get Lip Injections wherever you want! It’s completely up to you depending on the look you want. You can plump up your lips, or create a ski slope on the top lip—during your appointment, you and your provider will decide on the placement that will work best based on your facial features and the look you desire.
  • Can I Exercise After My Lip Augmentation Procedure?

You should avoid exercising for at least 24 hours after your lip augmentation procedure. This is because exercise increases blood flow, and increased blood flow to your face can make the swelling worse.
  • What Do Lip Injections Cost?

The price of lip augmentation with dermal fillers ranges from $450 to $900 depending on the type and amount of filler used.
  • Will I Be Able To Feel The Filler In My Lips After My Procedure?

When lip augmentation is performed by an aesthetic provider at Before-N-After, you won’t be able to feel the filler in your lips. After any swelling has gone down, your lips will feel just like your lips, just plumper!
  • Are There Any Side Effects After Lip Injections?

It’s possible that you may experience slight bruising and swelling after your lip augmentation procedure, but this is normal and will gradually dissipate over 48 hours. Arnica and ice can help hasten this process.
